Dr. Helen Fisher was hired by Match.com
to study what made singles tick these days.
The Singles in America findings matched a lot of what you might expect—texting
is huge, sex if prevalent, and married people sometimes wish they were single
(and vice versa). One of the things that
didn’t surprise me all that much but seemed to be a big finding was that the “friends
with benefits” arrangement is all the rage these days. For me, that was so 2005, but I’m okay with
being a trendsetter. Besides, I still
like a little No Strings Attached fun.
It was really cool getting invited by
Match.com to view the live stream of Dr. Fisher’s presentation (and write this
blog post about it). She’s clearly
someone who knows her stuff as well as a witty individual who doesn’t take
herself too seriously despite all of her credentials.
The thing that’s getting better and
better about Internet dating and being single in America these days is that
Match and other sites are expanding their product to include articles,
statistical summaries, live parties (I’ll be sure to tell you if one comes to
Denver), YouTube videos (seriously, check this out) and other helpful ways to
meet the partner you want while dating online.
I need to spruce up my profile, brush (and floss!), and get ready to
date even more!

When it comes to dating and relationships slower is always better. Granted we don’t date for years and years, but we also don’t settle, neither do we feel pressurised into making a commitment. dating advice
